Chilton County Jail Roster Overview
The Chilton County inmate roster is maintained by the Chilton County Sheriff's Office. The research capture showed a public roster count, current roster entries, name and date controls, current and released filters, sort options, a name search box, profile links, booking numbers, booking dates, charges, bond amounts, and mugshots. It is the best official online source for local county-jail custody status.
The roster does not replace the court record. Booking charges may change after a prosecutor reviews a case, and the roster is not proof of conviction or final sentence. For the full court file after arrest, use the court case channels or the Chilton County arrest records and court charges page. For sentenced state-prison inmates after transfer, use Alabama Department of Corrections resources. For sentenced federal inmates, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator.
The Sheriff's FAQ explains several related jail rules, including public-records request directions, inmate mail limits, phone account setup, medication drop-off, and bonding company information. The Sheriff's app page exists, but the official text did not confirm app-only inmate tools, so the web roster remains the verified public lookup path.
Search Chilton County Inmates
The roster search is built for quick public review of current and released jail entries. Use the name search when a full name is known, then clear the filter with Show All if the name does not appear. Sorting by newest or oldest booking date can help when the person was recently arrested or recently released.
- Open the official Sheriff's Office roster at chiltoncountyso.org and choose the roster page.
- Select Current for people now in custody or Released for past custody entries shown by the roster.
- Use Search By Name, then run Search or use Show All to reset the result list.
- Review the booking number, booking date, visible charges, bond amount, and mugshot in the public list.
- Use View Profile when available, then call the jail at 205-755-1053 if profile detail or bond status needs confirmation.
Chilton County Roster Search Fields
The public roster controls are simple, but they are useful because they expose both current and released custody paths. Profile pages were linked during research, but direct profile retrieval timed out, so fields beyond the list results should not be assumed without checking the live roster or calling the jail.

Chilton County Inmate Profile Fields
Public roster results give enough information to identify the booking and ask the right follow-up question. The visible list fields should be read as custody data, not as a final criminal judgment. A zero-dollar bond, a hold entry, or a failure-to-appear charge may need jail or clerk confirmation before anyone relies on it for release planning.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot image | Public photo shown with the roster entry when available. |
| Inmate name | The name listed for the booking. |
| Booking # | The jail booking identifier used for the custody event. |
| Booking Date | Date and time format observed as MM-DD-YYYY with a.m. or p.m. |
| Charges | Public charge text such as Failure to Appear/Comply/Pay or other listed offenses. |
| Bond | A single dollar amount shown on the roster entry. |
| View Profile | Profile link for more detail when the live site returns it. |

The Sheriff's FAQ is the source for several jail contact rules, including mail and phone setup.
That FAQ detail matters because roster records often lead to next steps such as bond, phone accounts, medication delivery, or public-records requests.
Chilton County Booking and Bond
Booking is the jail-side record of custody. It may include arrest information, charges as entered at intake, bond status, and release tracking. The court case may later show amended charges, dismissed charges, pleas, or sentencing. For that reason, an inmate roster entry should be paired with the court record when the question is case outcome rather than custody status.
Bond channels are documented in the Sheriff's FAQ. Cash bonds for misdemeanor and felony matters can be posted with the Circuit Clerk's Office Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays, on the third floor of the courthouse or by calling 205-755-4275. Property bonds may be posted at the jail 24 hours a day. Professional bonding companies approved by the Sheriff's Department may also be used.
- Cash bond goes through the Circuit Clerk during business hours.
- Property bond may be posted at the jail at any time.
- Felony property bond requires two property owners to sign.
- High bonds over $1,000,000 require Circuit Court approval during regular business hours.
- Approved bond companies are listed in the Sheriff's FAQ with phone numbers.
Chilton County Attorney Visits
Attorney visits are supported at the Chilton County Jail, but the rules are strict. Attorneys may visit only current clients and only for business related to the current incarceration. Visits may be face to face or by telephone visitation. Other accommodations require jail administration approval. A valid government ID and a current Bar Card showing ASB number are required.
| Visit Type | Schedule or Rule |
|---|---|
| Attorney visits Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. |
| Attorney visits Monday-Friday | 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. |
| Attorney visits Monday-Friday | 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
| Completion deadline | All visits must be completed by 8:00 p.m. |
| Outside times | Must be approved by jail administration. |
Electronic devices are not allowed in the attorney visit. Phones, computers, tablets, bags, briefcases, purses, wallets, and keys cannot be brought into the presence of the inmate. Jail staff will furnish a pen if needed.
Contact Chilton County Inmates
Inmate mail must be sent through the Postal Service to 301 City Street, Clanton, AL 35045 and must include the inmate's full name. Letters must be written in pencil, black ink, or blue ink only, and paper must be white paper, notebook paper, or typed computer paper. Photos, perfume, drawings, clippings, extra envelopes, and stamps are not allowed.
Cards must be store-bought. Glitter, musical cards, drawings, and handmade cards are not allowed. Inmates are not allowed to receive messages except by mail, although emergency exceptions can be verified by jail administration. Prescription medication may be brought for inmates if the person leaving medication shows photo ID. Controlled substances are not accepted.
The Corrections page says commissary and telephone systems are provided by outside vendors, but the official text reviewed for Chilton County did not publish the commissary vendor, online deposit URL, remote video vendor, public visitation schedule, visitor approval list, pricing, or deposit limits. For those details, call the jail before sending funds or planning a visit.
Chilton County Jail Records Requests
Some jail records will not appear on the public roster. The Sheriff's forms page lists a Public Records Request Form, and the Sheriff's FAQ directs users to print the request form from the Forms tab. That route is the official fallback for sheriff records not shown online, subject to redaction or withholding where privacy, safety, sealed records, or active law-enforcement concerns apply.
General county public records use a separate County Commission process that requires the Standard Public Records Request Form, proof of Alabama residency, and in-person submission at the Commission office. Jail custody records should start with the Sheriff's Office or jail contact instead of the Commission because the Sheriff is the agency source for roster, corrections, and jail-operation records.
State and Federal Inmate Searches
A Chilton County inmate search covers the county jail, not every person sentenced from a Chilton County case. People moved to state prison after sentencing are outside the county roster. Federal inmates are also separate, even when a federal case began in or near Chilton County.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator is the official federal custody source for sentenced federal inmates.
Use the county roster for jail custody, the court file for case outcome, and the federal locator only when the person is in federal Bureau of Prisons custody.
